Townsville Connection Road Stage 2 and 4

The Townsville Connection Road Stage 2 and 4 project involved the upgrade of a key arterial road to enhance safety and capacity. Spanning from University Road to Bowen Road Bridge, this $96 million upgrade included widening the road to four lanes and improving three major intersections: Gartrell Drive, Mervyn Crossman Drive/Fairfield Waters Drive, and Kokoda Street. Additionally, the project focused on enhancing pedestrian and cyclist safety with wider paths and safer crossings.

Hansen Engineering Group provided comprehensive support through design, construction phase support, and condition assessments. This included civil and structural engineering, drainage and pavement design, culvert design, and certification services. Our team played a critical role throughout the two-year construction program, including supporting flood recovery following the 2025 event.
